Maikaba Calls For Thorough Investigation of Match Officials After Rivers United Draw

Date:

Kano Pillars head coach, Abdul Maikaba has expressed his disappointment with the referees who officiated his team’s matchday 24 NPFL encounter with Rivers United. The match ended in a 1-1 draw at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

In his post-match remarks, Maikaba lamented the biased officiating by the referees and called on the league body to investigate the match thoroughly.

“I salute my boys for giving a good fight this evening, but I must address the actions of the referees,” Maikaba stated. “It is crucial for the league governing body to look into the events of this game from start to finish. If they review the footage, they will understand what transpired. We believed we deserved to secure all three points, but unfortunately, we only managed to secure one.”

Maikaba acknowledged the significance of his team’s performance in representing Nigeria on the continental stage. However, he emphasized the need for fair officiating to encourage emerging teams striving to showcase their talent and represent the country.

“While it’s commendable that our team upheld the Nigerian flag in the continent, the officiating standards must be addressed,” Maikaba continued. “It’s essential to support the growth of teams aspiring to represent Nigeria. If biased officiating persists, it undermines the efforts of deserving teams to participate and excel on the continental stage.”
