Plateau United 5-0 Sunshine Stars
Omoyele 2′ 78′
Ngbede 15′
Umeh 18′
Mafeng 88′

Sunshine Stars head into Sunday’s game fielding a makeshift side made up of only 11 old players and were behind as early as the second minute when usual suspect, Omoyele guided in with ease from goal mouth after the visitors failed to deal with a second ball from a corner kick.

In the 15th minute Omoyele turned provider, setting up Ngbede who appeared to be in an offside position for the second with a lovely assist and five minutes later Umeh slot into the bottom right corner from a through ball to hand the hosts a huge 3-0 first half advantage.

Sunshine Stars dominated a larger swath of the second period and came close to scoring on different occasions through Kehinde Adedipe, Niyi Adekunle and Sikiru Alimi, however Omoyele’s second goal of the day 12 minutes from time killed off any plan of an unlikely comeback.

United completed the 5-0 routing of a makeshift Sunshine Stars side without reserves through youngster, Mafeng Pam who tapped in past a helpless Henry Ayodele from 8 yards out through Ngbede’s assist.

Despite the heavy loss the Akure Landlords who missed the key services of their newly recruited players due to an imposed registration embargo remained in the top five in the NPFL log and next face Kano Pillars at home on Sunday.
