Carpi of Italy striker, Jerry Mbakogu has gained transfer interest from English Championship club, Leeds United, who are expected to revive their £3.5m bid for the player at the end of the season.
Mbakogu was close to a move to leaving his second division club for a switch to the English second-tier side in January, but Carpi refused to sanction the deal.
Back then, Carpi pulled out of the negotiations as they were not willing to lose their striker who has scored six goals in 19 Serie B appearances this season.
Mbakogu has been influential to Carpi’s promotional play-off chase this season, as the club are ninth in the Serie B table with 36 points from 24 games.
The 25-year-old Mbakogu, who is yet to gain an invitation to the Super Eagles, has applied for an Italian passport to help smooth a deal for Leeds in the summer rather than wait on a work permit.
