Malumfashi FC Expelled from Nigeria National League

Date:

Malumfashi Football Club of Katsina has faced the consequences of breaching sections of the rules and regulations of the Nigeria National League (NNL) as they have been expelled from the competition.

The expulsion comes after Malumfashi FC failed to honor two consecutive matches in Conference D of the NNL against Sokoto United and City FC of Abuja. This refusal to participate in scheduled matches is not the first instance of misconduct by Malumfashi FC, as they had previously failed to attend a rescheduled 45-minute league match against Sokoto United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

In response to these violations, the Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman, confirmed that Malumfashi FC’s actions constituted a breach of Article 14.7 of the league’s regulations, warranting a fine of N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira only). Subsequently, Article 14.10 was invoked, leading to the expulsion of Malumfashi FC from the league, with all matches played by the club canceled.

Furthermore, the Nigeria National League has mandated the Katsina Football Association to assist in the recovery of all fines imposed on Malumfashi FC, particularly concerning the items forcefully taken from referees during the match against Sokoto United in Malumfashi. This decisive action underscores the league’s commitment to upholding integrity and adherence to its regulations, ensuring fair play and discipline among participating clubs.
