The management of Sunshine Stars have commended the players and officials of the Club for their remarkable run in the 2018/19 Preseason which saw them secured a second trophy in less than a month with the Governor Wike Unity Cup triumph at the Sharks Stadium, Saturday.
The Ondo State Football Agency Chairman, Otunba Tajudeen Akinyemi who doubles as Sunshine Stars President and Club Director, Prince Tunde Ogunja were on ground at the team’s base in the Garden City to commend the group following the shootout final win over Rivers United in the Unity Cup.
Akinyemi reiterated the management readiness to leave no stone unturned in bid to adequately provide for the team, before declaring a nine-day Xmas/New Year break for the Akure Landlords starting from Sunday 23rd December 2018.
“Up Sunshine. I am very happy and pleased with you guys with the way you played today; you guys were awesome. You kept your promised to deliver, I am very happy for this and Mr Governor has heard of this again. We are going to meet Aketi together to present this and the Gold Cup trophy to him before you go for closed camping.
“Now you can go on break to be with your family for the Christmas and New Year, but try be disciplined, eat right and keep fit in view of the tasks ahead. It’s just preseason now more to be done before the start of the season and on our part we will not stop working hard to fulfil our obligations to you,” Akinyemi submitted.
Ogunja on his part admonished the players to be discipline and eschew social vices capable of impacting them negatively, a sentiment re-echoed by coach Kabiru Dogo who urged the players to maintain focus ahead of the new season.
Sunshine Stars will regroup in Akure from the break on the second day of January 2019, before heading out to an out-of-state facility for the final phase of preparations for the 2018/19 season.
