Manchester City lost 4-3 to Celtic in the first game of their U.S. preseason tour on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s lineup featured stars like Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish, but the Premier League champions were bested by the Scottish champions in the match held in North Carolina.
Celtic took the lead with a well-executed team goal by Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn. City equalized through Oscar Bobb, but Celtic regained the lead with goals from Kuhn and Kyogo Furuhashi before halftime, making it 3-1.
Argentinian Máximo Perrone, who came on at halftime, scored shortly after the break following a positive run from Bobb. Bobb then assisted Haaland, who headed in City’s third goal to level the match briefly. However, Celtic substitute Luis Palma scored the decisive goal, securing a 4-3 victory for Celtic.
Manchester City will continue their U.S. tour with matches against AC Milan and Barcelona, while Celtic will start their Scottish Premiership campaign against Kilmarnock on August 4.
