Chelsea Remain Undefeated; Manchester City Stumble in WSL Weekends

The Women’s Super League roared back into action after the Christmas break, delivering dramatic results that reshaped the title race.

Chelsea and Arsenal both secured emphatic 5-0 victories, while Manchester City suffered a crushing 4-2 derby defeat to Manchester United.

 

Chelsea Dominance

Reigning champions Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the table with a commanding 5-0 victory over West Ham United.

  • Catarina Macario opened the scoring early, with Erin Cuthbert and Aggie Beever-Jones adding two more before halftime.
  • A second-half strike from Sandy Baltimore and an own goal by Amber Tysiak capped off the dominant display.

Chelsea remain unbeaten, with 10 wins from 11 games, and lead the league with 31 points, seven clear of second-placed Arsenal.

 

Arsenal Surge

Arsenal moved up to second with a 5-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace.

Leah Williamson broke the deadlock early, before the Gunners unleashed a four-goal blitz in the second half.

The win propelled Arsenal past Manchester United and City in the standings, reigniting their title hopes.

 

Manchester United Stun Manchester City in Derby Clash

The weekend’s highlight was Manchester United’s stunning 4-2 victory over rivals Manchester City, a result that pushed City down to fourth place.

Ella Toone starred with a hat trick, including a goal in the first minute of the second half, helping United secure their first-ever WSL win away to City.

Despite City’s spirited fightback to make it 3-2 before halftime, United held firm for a statement win.
