Manchester United Suffer Injuries in Preseason Friendly

Date:

Manchester United faced a challenging preseason match against Arsenal, with both Rasmus Højlund and Leny Yoro forced off due to injuries.

The match, played in front of 62,486 fans at SoFi Stadium, saw United lose 2-1 to Arsenal.

Rasmus Højlund scored Manchester United opening goal but was substituted just 13 minutes into the game with a muscle problem.

The striker walked off the pitch but headed straight down the tunnel, indicating a potentially serious issue.

Leny Yoro, the £52 million summer signing from Lille, also sustained an injury and was substituted midway through the first half. The 18-year-old defender was seen limping towards the dressing room, adding to United’s injury woes.

The injuries to Højlund and Yoro are a major concern for manager Erik ten Hag, who is already dealing with an injury to centre-back Victor Lindelöf. Lindelöf missed the game against Arsenal and the previous match against Rangers due to injury.

“The fixture list, the load on the players is so high,” Ten Hag mentioned in a news conference. “The pressure on players is so immense and this season it’s getting even worse because of the new format in Europe.”

Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus equalized in the 26th minute, and substitute Gabriel Martinelli secured the win for Arsenal with a late goal in the second half.
