Head coach of Nigeria’s U17 team, Manu Garba has said that his team will not give up despite a losing start in the 2019 U17 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
The Golden Eaglets lost 3-2 to Burkina Faso in the opening Group B match of
Seven-Nation CAF U17 AFCON Qualifiers (WAFU B), but coach Manu Garba remained optimistic that his side will bounce back strong and will scale through the group stage at the championship.
“It’s true we have lost our first game, but we still have two more games to play and if we won both games we will still qualify for the semifinals,” the coach told Footballlive.ng.
“Against Burkina Faso we did not start well and individual errors cost us two early goals,” he said. “But after 10 minutes we played a lot better. We will continue to work hard and hope to have learnt from our mistakes before our next game.”
Nigeria will play their next match on Thursday against Cote d’Ivoire and must avoid another defeat if truly they hope to make it past the group stages.
