Manuel Akanji Eyes Manchester United Move

Date:

Borussia Dortmund of Germany defender, Manuel Akanji is eyeing a move Manchester United of England, as the Nigerian-born lad says he would love to play for The Red Devils sometime in future.

The Switzerland international said he is very satisfied at Dortmund, but equally admitted a strong desire to play for United someday, being a dream he has held since childhood.

The 23-year-old defender has been at Dortmund since January, after signing from Swiss Super League side, FC Basel and he has been a regular at BVB.

Akanji was an important part of the Switzerland squad as they reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Russia in the summer and is highly rated at Dortmund.

His target of a title could come true as Lucian Favre’s side lead Bayern Munich in the title race by four points after winning five of their opening seven fixtures, but Akanji admits United remain a bigger target for him.

Akanji said: “Many know that Manchester United has been my favourite club since childhood. It would be nice to play there.

“But, that’s not an issue right now. I am very satisfied in Dortmund. I want to win titles with BVB and compete in many more big tournaments with the Swiss national team.”
