Matthew patient despite Eagles snub

Date:

In-form Lillestrom central midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew says he is confident of an imminent Super Eagles call-up despite being overlooked for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at home to Libya.

The 21-year-old has been impressive for Lillestrom in the current season.
He has scored three league goals in the Norwegian top flight this term.
But the former Flying Eagles ace was snubbed by head coach Gernot Rohr in his latest squad to face Libya on Saturday.
He told Footballlive.ng: “Every Nigerian who plays football has dreams of playing for his country sooner or later.
“I have had a good season so far but I must accept that not all will be given the opportunity at the same time but I know if I continue this way my time will come soon.
“All we can do is pray the team does well because the truth is, if they do well it raises the image of every Nigern player.”
