Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu was the hero in Denmark as Midtjyland beat Aab Aalborg 2 – 1 in a Danish Super Liga match on Monday while his compatriot Frank Onyeka, a second half substitute was shown a yellow card just four minutes after his introduction.
In a match of unequal’s, second placed Midtjyland took on 10th placed Aab Aalborg who is hoping to escape relegation but Midtjyland continued their drive of dethroning FC Kobenhavn (Copenhagen) who is three points ahead of their rivals on the league table after 22 matches.
Paul Onuachu opened the teams account on the stroke of half time assisted by Kian Hansen while Evander made it 2 – 0 to the host in the 51st minute before Tom Van Weert scored a consolation goal for the away side in the 57th minute.
Onuachu with the goal officially opens his 2019 goal account for the team in their second competitive match of the year thereby taking his goal tally to 13th in the league after match day 22 and the highest scoring Midtjyland player on 13 goals 22 matches.
Onuachu was substituted off the game in the 90th minute for Mayron George while his Nigerian compatriot Frank Onyeka who replaced Awer Mabil in the 85th minute received a yellow card in the match in the 89th minute.
Midtjyland is currently second on the table on 50 points in 22 matches with 15 wins five draws and two losses behind FC Copahegen who is on 53 points after 22 league games.
