Goalkeeper Terkaa Melai is confident of the chances of Niger Tornadoes in the 2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title race.
Tornadoes are fifth on the league log with 37 points from 24 games.
The Ikon Allah Boys will entertain leaders Lobi Stars in front of their fans at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in a week 25 fixture and the goalkeeper says his team will make their intentions clear with maximum points.
“We have been training hard in readiness for the continuation of the season and nothing should stop us from defeating Lobi Stars,” Melai told Footballlive.ng.
“A lot of people aren’t talking about Tornadoes as title contenders but we want to do the talking on the pitch. With that people will reckon with us,” he explained.
“I’m sure of Tornadoes’ title credentials. When the chips are down we will be fine.
“Lobi Stars are capable of punishing their opponent on their day. Our main objective is three points and that’s what is on our radar.”
Melai who went through the ranks at Lobi Stars shrugged off the effect of facing his former team.
“You can’t write my history without including Lobi Stars. The club made me what I am today,” he recalled.
“But am a professional and have to defend the interest of my current club. Tornadoes pay my salary and I must ensure that victory is achieved when we face Lobi Stars in front of our fans in Minna.
