Tianjin Teda of China midfielder, John Mikel Obi on Thursday arrived in Uyo to join his national team colleagues at the Super Eagles’ camp.
Mikel’s arrival brings to 29 the number of players on ground, ahead of Monday’s match against DR Congo, with Victor Moses now the only one still being expected.
With the arrival of the duo, 29 of the 30 players in the Nigeria provisional squad are now on the ground as the preparations for the World Cup enters top gear.
Before now, there was an explanation by the Eagles spokesperson, Toyin Ibitoye that Mikel had been granted leave to sort out some pending family matters.
Ibitoye said the Eagles skipper was in touch with the coach, Gernot Rohr, and would be with the team before the friendly match with DR Congo.
“Mikel has been speaking with the coach, I cannot reveal what they have said now or whether he has been given permission to sort out family issues, but he will join us soon,” Ibitoye said
