Mikel Arteta Demands Improved Discipline Amid UCL Match

Date:

Arsenal head coach, Mikel Arteta explains the need for his team to “eradicate” the disciplinary issues that have resulted in three red cards in eight Premier League games this season.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk, Mikel Arteta addressed the impact of William Saliba’s recent red card in their 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, following earlier red cards to Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard.

“Playing with 10 men always is an issue… We cannot continue to play with 10 men at this level. We need to eradicate that, it’s clear.”

Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season against Bournemouth.

The London club will be without captain Martin Ødegaard due to injury, while star winger Bukayo Saka remains a doubt but could return in time for Tuesday night’s game.
