Tianjin Teda of China midfielder, John Mikel Obi has set his sight on returning to action with his club this weekend in the Chinese Super League, and believes it would be an ideal way to show their fans that he is back to his best.
Having missed out on the team’s midweek fixture due to accumulated cards’ regulations, Mikel used the time out to gain more strength from a wrist injury he copped at the World Cup, and says he is now ready to explode fully against Chongqing SWM on Saturday.
The former Chelsea of England midfielder sprained his arm in Nigeria’s 2-0 win against Iceland last month, playing the rest of the tournament with a protective band.
Mikel is already back in training with Tianjin Teda, but missed their 1-0 loss to Shanghai Shenhua on Wednesday on account of a match suspension.
Consequently, Mikel’s return to club action will be a big boost to Tianjin Teda’s hope to bounce back from their loss to Shanghai and get a win against Chongqing this weekend.
The Eagles’ captain, who wore a protection on his arm posted after Thursday’s training session that he was fit and better, stating: “Back at it again. #TianjinTeda.”
