Tianjin Teda of China midfielder, John Mikel Obi has set his mind on stepping out for his 15th start with his club in the Chinese Super League.
After initial fitness worries, Mikel has been cleared to play on Friday for Teda when they host Shanghai SIPG in matchday 22.
Mikel and his colleagues will enter the game with high hope of returning to victory for the first time in five outings.
Teda are currently 11th on the log with 26 points after 21 matches, but Mikel believes they are good enough to snatch victory over Shanghai, who are currently second with 43 points after playing 20 games.
Mikel has played only 15 of his side’s matches, but has already bettered his last season’s personal performance, with a goal and two assists to show so far.
He also has a pass completion rate of 84%, winning 55% of his duels and also completing 89% of his dribbles.
After missing the first six matches of the campaign and was excused from Nigeria’s games against Seychelles and Liberia, Mikel will now return to action with Teda on Friday, and go in search of victory against Shanghai.
