Mikel Rules Out Any Individual Ambitions At Boro

Date:

New arrival at Middlesbrough of England, John Mikel Obi says he is not thinking of making any personal impression and trying to stand out in the squad, as he believes success in football is all about team work.

With that in mind, Mikel pledged that he will quickly settle down and bond with his new teammates to see what they can achieve together.

Mikel stated as much during a radio sports programme monitored in Lagos by footballlive.ng, in which he further stated that he wopuld love to see Boro gain promotion at the end of this season.

The former Lyn Oslo of Norway, Chelsea of England and Tianjin Teda of China star stressed that his focus now will be fully on helping Boro excel in the English Championship, starting with his first match this weekend.

He went straight into training with The Riverside squad on Thursday, thereby raising a suggestion that he might get to play a part in their FA Cup clash against Newport on Saturday.

Mikel stated: “The focus should not be on m along, because it’s all about the team, not just me as a single player.

“Everybody knows me, since my days with Chelsea, that I am a team player. I don’t think about my personal status in the team.

“I don’t think of myself as an individual; it’s about what I can do together with the team, what we can achieve together.

“Hopefully, we can all achieve something at the end of the season.”
