Tianjin Teda of China midfielder, John Mikel Obi is staying positive over his chances of still making a quick recovery from his latest injury setback, and believes he will play his club’s next match.
Though he expressed similar enthusiasm last week, only to end up missing Teda’s game in the Chinese Super League at the weekend, the former Chelsea of England star insists he is not out for the long term.
Mikel has been a regular for the Chinese side but has now missed four straight matches, as Teda hopes to build on their impressive form of late which has seen them win two of their last three fixtures.
The veteran midfielder has been suffering from a knee injury which has kept him out for two weeks but was however hopeful of featuring against Hebei.
Mikel stated after that he was happy to see Teda recover from a goal down to beat Hebei China Fortune 2-1 away from home, and said he hopes to be part of their next game.
Goals from Frank Acheampong and Xie Weijun cancelled out Ayoub El Kaabi’s opener as Teda boosted their chances of a top half finish, moving up the table to 8th, with 21 points after 16 games.
