Tianjin Teda of China midfielder, John Mikel Obi has set his mind on a return to action with the club for their midweek fixture on July 18th.
Though the Chinese Super League club are still in active duty for the season, Mikel has been granted compassionate leave of absence, due to a wrist injury he copped while in action for the Super Eagles at the World Cup.
Few hours before Nigeria’s ouster at the feet of Argentina in their last group match, Mikel also received scary news that his father had been kidnapped and, though the star’s dad was later released by his abductors, Teda have given the star more time to recover from the entire trauma.
Consequently, though Mikel is already back in China, he is not expected in action with Teda until their match day 12 clash away to Shanghai Greenland on July 18.
Mikel will then be expected to hit the ground running, in order to keep Teda’s season on course in the league, having already been knocked out of the Chinese Cup.
