Tianjin Teda of China midfielder, Mikel Obi has added another angle to his plans and lofty thoughts ahead of the World Cup, as he says he and his colleagues in the Super Eagles are ready to run in Russia.
The Eagles’ captain said ahead of the team’s flight out of their pre-World Cup camp in Austria to their base in Essenthuki, Russia that now is the time to face the real global challenge, but stressed that the Nigerian squad is up to the task.
The former Chelsea star revealed that he has also personally prepared his mind and body for the FIFA World Cup and intends to give his very best for Nigeria.
Mikel promised that Nigerians will see a different team when they take on Croatia in their opening game on June 16th at the Kaliningrad Stadium, also called Arena Baltika.
Mikel took to Twitter to share a video in which he was seen sweating it out on a treadmill, and captioned it: “Running to Russia like…. Ready for action at World Cup 2018.”
He added: “We have learnt a lot going into this tournament and the underdog tag is just well and okay for us. We have worked very hard and I believe the hard work will show when the tournament begins.”
