Mikel’s Status At Boro Excites Eagles’ Crew

Date:

Middlesbrough of England midfielder, John Mikel Obi has gained more words of recognition from officials of the Nigerian national team, following his sterling performance in 90 minutes of action for his new club at the weekend.

Mikel’s performance helped Boro eke out a 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers, much to the admiration of his club’s fans, who were so excited after the game that they nicknamed him Rolls Royce and African Zidane.

Footballlive.ng reports further that officials of the Eagles have also noted the high level of excitement at Middlesbrough’s home ground, The Riverside, as the club’s fans are now adolising Mikel, who only joined the former English Premier League side on a free transfer in January.

Mikel opted to make a return to England, after parting ways with Tianjin Teda of China, and his decision is now paying off handsomely, following his latest exploits against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.

Mikel played in the heart of Boro’s midfield for the duration of the game, with his performance sparking a flurry of lofty words from the club’s appreciative fans.

In recognition of Mikel’s heroic status at The Riverside, Eagles’ officials took to social media to celebrate with their captain, who they noted is the new superstar at Middlesbrough.

A post on the Eagles’ official Twitter handle reads: “@Boro fans seem to have found their superstar…..in Mikel.”
