Moffi Milestone Goal Not Enough As Nice Falter

Date:

In a thrilling Ligue 1 encounter at the Allianz Rivera, Nantes secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nice, showcasing their resilience and determination to claim all three points on the road.

Nantes drew first blood in the 19th minute when Mathis Albine found the back of the net, capitalizing on an assist from Kelvin Amian to give the visitors an early lead and set the tone for the match.

Nice responded strongly in the second half, with Evann Guessand winning a penalty in the 69th minute. Terem Moffi stepped up for Nice and calmly converted the spot-kick in the 72nd minute, leveling the score and scoring his 10th league goal of the season. The goal was also the Nigerian’s 50th goal in the French top flight.

However, Nantes refused to be deterred and regained their lead just four minutes later. Mostafa Mohamed showed composure from the penalty spot, slotting home in the 76th minute to put Nantes back in front and ultimately seal the victory for his side.

The result sees Nice holding onto 5th place in the Ligue 1 table with 43 points from 27 games, while Nantes sits in 14th place with 28 points from the same number of games. With this crucial win, Nantes aims to build momentum for the remainder of the season, while Nice will look to bounce back in their pursuit of European qualification.
