Rivers United defender Monday Mbakama is readying himself for what is going to be a tough challenge in the Gov Wike Unity Cup semi final against Abia Warriors at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is at 8am.
The Pride of Rivers go into this game having finished at top place in Group B.
“We would’ve loved to finish the group stage with 12 points, but we are satisfied with the way we’ve played,” Mbakama told Footballlive.
“The most important thing now is not to drop our standards but to aim for a better record going forward. The guys know how important this game is.
“Abia Warriors are a good side; they play good football but Yakubu Gowon Stadium is our fortress and we have to make a statement.”
“The important thing for us to keep up our good form and to maintain our hunger, irrespective of whom we are playing.
“If we can continue to work hard for each other, approach each match with the right attitude, the results will continue to come,” he added.
