Bendel Insurance head coach, Monday Odigie, has attributed his team’s goalless draw with Abia Warriors to missed scoring opportunities, stating that the lack of a winning mindset played a significant role in the outcome. The match, held at the Abia Warriors’ home ground, saw both teams struggle to convert chances into goals.
In a post-match interview with the club’s media, Odigie reflected on the match, noting the fierce determination displayed by their opponents. “It was a very keenly contested game because Abia Warriors were very determined to win,” Odigie said. “Football is a game of chances; it can be painful if you don’t take them. We played to our strengths, but we failed to convert the chances we created.”
Despite the draw, Odigie commended his players for their effort and performance throughout the match. However, he acknowledged that the team approached the game without the necessary mindset to secure all three points.
The result saw Bendel Insurance slip to ninth place on the league table.
