Nigerian forward, Akor Jerome Adams has joined the ranks of Nigerian record-setters abroad in club football.
Montpellier defeated Olympique Lyonnais 4-1 at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon to maintain an unbeaten record in their first two Ligue 1 games for the first time in twelve years.
This accomplishment follows their 2-2 draw against Le Havre on MatchDay 1 the previous weekend.
Adams played a crucial role in both matches for Montpellier and also set a Ligue 1 record for his club.
He became the first player to score in his first two league games for Montpellier since Alberto Facundo Tino Costa achieved this feat in August 2009.
Alberto Tino Costa, who is now 38 years old, scored against FC Lorient and FC Sochaux on Match week 2 and 3 of the 2009-10 Ligue 1 season for Montpellier.
During his debut campaign, he managed to score 7 goals and provide 7 assists in 31 league games.
The Nigerian’s impressive debut for Montpellier was marked by a two-minute brace that secured a valuable point for the team in front of their home fans.
In the second game, he continued to shine by scoring a crucial 89th-minute goal, helping Montpellier secure maximum points in an away match.
