Moses Braces For Fernebahce’s Regular Starting Spot

Date:

Fernebahce of Turkey winger, Victor Moses is bracing up for a regular starting spot with The Yellow Canaries, following his sterling performance and assist in their UEFA Europa League win on Tuesday.

Footballlive.ng reports that it was a first starting role Moses would get in the team he joined in January, on loan from Chelsea of England, but the former Super Eagles’ star made the best of the opportunity with a top-grade performance.

Fernebahce fans had clamoured for Moses to get a starting role in the squad, following three straight substitute outings with the team, yet scoring in his second match so soon after his arrival, and their wishes were justified with his performance on Tuesday night.

Moses’ efforts helped Ferne recover from defeat last weekend in the Turkish Super Lig, as the team got a crucial 1-0 win in the first leg round of their round of 32 fixture with Zenit St. Petersburg of Russia.

Islam Slimani struck in the 21st minute after being set up by Moses from a corner-kick, after which Zenit squandered a chance to equalise before half-time when Robert Mak’s penalty kick was saved by Fernebache’s goalkeeper, Harun Tekin.

The 28-year-old Moses was, however, replaced in the 85th minute of the game that was played two days early for security reasons to avoid a clash with fellow-Istanbul rivals, Galatasaray, who host Benfica on Thursday.

Moses will now seek to consolidate on Tuesday’s performance by getting another starting role on Saturday, when Ferne host Konyaspor in the Lig, then head out to St-Petersburg for the Europa League reverse fixture on February 21.
