Chelsea of England right-wing-back, Victor Moses has declared that he was glad with the honour of wearing the club’s captain’s band on Wednesday night, despite it coming in a preseason loss to their eternal rivals, Arsenal.
Moses started the London Derby on the bench along with Tammy Abraham, but they both went on in the 63rd minute.
For the third consecutive pre-season game, Abraham was called up from the substitutes by Maurizio Sarri to replace established striker, Alvaro Morata who was unfortunate to miss a spot kick in the game.
However, it was Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi that sparkled the most during his time on the pitch, of all the three that came on in that second period.
First, Marcin Bulka was quick to deny him an equalizer six minutes to stoppage time when the Pole got down swiftly to his left to palm away a goal bound effort from the Nigerian.
The 22-year-old who started the 5-1 thrashing of French champions, Paris Saint Germain last weekend continued to show great understanding and link up play with his attacking teammates.
It eventually paid off when they drew level in stoppage time courtesy of Alexandre Lacazette, having trailed to an Antonio Rudiger opener.
During the shoot-out which ensued afterwards, he will also step up to tuck home the deciding penalty to win his side the game after his compatriots on the opposing side, Moses and Abraham had all dispatched their own kicks.
Moses and his pals at Chelsea will now turn attention to the Community Shield game versus Manchester City on Sunday, August 5, while Arsenal still have a friendly with Lazio of Italy on Saturday.
