Relegation threatened FC Lorient have now lost a game for the first time in 27 days as dangling Nantes came to town and took all three points. This was the first loss for Lorient in fives games as they were four games unbeaten (3W 1D) prior to this game.
Although, Lorient commanded the proceedings of the game by holding 61% of the possession in the first half, it was the visitors who were more threatening as they had 6 attempts, with 4 of them on target. Lorient could only summon two goal attempts with only one going on target. The first half ended with either side not getting the better of themselves, leaving the scoreline blank at thw interval.
The second half saw Nantes threaten their hosts even more and the game was sparked just four minutes after the restart. Jean-Charles Castelletto finished off a chance created by Moses Simon to gift the away side the lead. The Cameroonian defender showing that there was no love lost after Simon knocked out his nation in Ivory Coast a few weeks back.
Lorient tried to get an equalizer but could not get any of their four second half attempts on target, with Nantes holding on to their lone goal advantage until the final whistle.
This result leaves Nantes on 12th position with 25 points gained from 23 games, and Lorient are 16th with 22 points from 23 games.
