CSKA Moscow of Russia attacker, Ahmed Musa staged a strong claim for a starting role against Croatia in Nigeria’s first group match of Russia 2018, as he put up a stunning performance during the Super Eagles’ last training session in Austria.
Musa was on fire, with fiery runs and hunger for goal during an a-side game, in which the players were shared into two formations behind closed doors before leaving for Russia.
Eagles’ coach Gernot Rohr tested the two formations he will likely use in the opening game in group D against Croatia which is seven days away as the World Cup draws near.
For the 4-3-3 formation, Musa showed his relevance to the team with his pace, while also causing lot of trouble for John Ogu, who defended for the team in 3-5-2 formation.
Oghenekaro Etebo, who has been tipped to gate-crash the line-up for the Croatia game, also put up an impressive performance using his pace and abilities in tight corners to good effect during the session.
Alex Iwobi led the top performers for the team lined up in 3-5-2 with his vision splitting the defence led by Chidozie Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo twice for the duo of Odion Ighalo and Victor Moses to wreak havoc.
Dutch-Nigerian right back Tyronne Ebuehi continue to stake claim for the right full back spot with another near perfect display as a wing back for the team set up in 3-5-2. His form has already helped him displace Shehu Abdullahi as first choice right sided defender of the team.
