Enyimba International Football made it two wins out three in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, after beating visiting Williamsville 1-0 on Wednesday.
Striker Ibrahim Mustapha scored a great solo effort to put the People’s Elephants in front inside the opening ten minutes.
The game started with lots of tension and defensive awareness with the two teams creating few scoring chances. But the hosts got off the blocks faster to take the lead catching the Williamsville defenders slower in movement.
The visitors tried to fight back but failed to break Enyimba defense.
Goal scorer Mustapha said he is very proud of being the man who netted the only goal.
“It was a great feeling scoring the match winner. I feel so proud having helped my team win such a crucial match. I saw the space and exploited it,” the striker told Footballlive.ng.
“We deserved to have scored more but that’s football for you. What matters most is three points.
“We hope to complete a double over Williamsville when we visit them in day 4,” Mustapha added.
