With only 5 goals separating Junior Lokosa from Mfon Udoh’s long standing NPFL highest goalscorer in a single season record there is no doubt that the Kano Pillars striker would be the most disappointed players with the LMC/Club Owner decision to end the 2018 NPFL Season and he didn’t hide his displeasure at the decision while speaking to footballlive on the day the decision was officially announced.
He told www.footballive.ng
, “I actually set a target to score more than 23 goals so as to break the record set by the Enyimba International captain, Mfon Udoh and I have worked so hard to put my name in another record in the NPFL but it is so unfortunate that the decision took affected my hard work right from the commencement of the league away.”
Recounting how difficult it has been for him to get so close to breaking the record, he said, “It is so difficult to score 23 goals but I was determined to break the record and with God’s favour I was close to breaking the record with five goals left to equal the record but regardless I give God the glory for emerging the highest goal scorer of the 2018 NPFL season.”
He went on to describe it as a season he would never forget in his football career as he was invited to Super Eagles and played in a friendly match before the World Cup while also becoming the highest goal scorer of the 2018 NPFL Season with 18 goals to his credit.
The former First Bank FC of Lagos Striker concluded by saying he believes he would move to a foreign league in the no distant future.
