Napoli’s confirmation of Victor Osimhen’s absence from the Super Eagles’ upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Mali sheds light on the striker’s ongoing injury concerns.
Despite being listed as a substitute in Napoli’s recent Serie A clash with Inter Milan, Osimhen was unable to take part due to inflammation stemming from a previous injury. Caretaker manager Francesco Calzona cited this issue as the reason for Osimhen’s omission from the squad.
The 25-year-old forward’s name was notably absent from Napoli’s released list of players for international duty, signaling his continued rehabilitation.
Alongside Osimhen, injuries have also ruled out Tyrone Ebuehi and Gabriel Osho from the Super Eagles’ fixtures, while Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi faces uncertainty due to fitness concerns.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to play Ghana on March 22 and Mali four days later at the Grand de Stade Marrakech.
