Ndidi Scores As Leicester Sweep Southampton

Wilfred Ndidi was amongst the goals as Leicester City delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over Joe Aribo’s Southampton in a crucial Championship encounter, reaffirming their position at the top of the table and showcasing their title credentials.

 

The hosts wasted no time asserting their dominance, opening the scoring in the 25th minute when AbdulFatawu Ishaku found the back of the net, courtesy of a precise assist from Kieran Dewsbury-Hall. Leicester continued to apply pressure on Southampton’s defense and doubled their lead in the 62nd minute when Wilfred Ndidi capitalized on an opportunity, with Stephy Mavididi providing the assist. The Nigerian has now scored in consecutive games, putting his tally up to 4 championship goals (6 overall).

 

Leicester’s attacking prowess was on full display as they extended their advantage further in the second half. AbdulFatawu Ishaku added his second goal of the match in the 75th minute, courtesy of a well-timed assist from Hamza Choudhury, before turning provider to set up Jamie Vardy for Leicester’s fourth goal in the 79th minute.

 

Not content with their lead, Leicester continued to press forward relentlessly, and AbdulFatawu Ishaku completed his hat-trick in style, netting his third goal of the match in the 81st minute with an assist from Jamie Vardy.

 

Leicester City are now two wins from winning the Championship, as the win kept their position at the summit of the table with an impressive tally of 94 points from 44 games played. Southampton, meanwhile, remains in fourth place with 84 points from 44 games, firmly in contention for promotion.
