Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi injury against Manchester City might be a direct result of the high number of free kicks he has given away while in action with his club, as he has been rated with the highest number of fouls in The Foxes’ squad.
Footballlive.ng reports that Ndidi was cast in doubt for Leicester’s clash away to Chelsea on Saturday, after he got a knee injury against Man City in the Carabao Cup, but English soccer observers described it as reward for his tackles on other players at opposing ends all through the season.
While the former Racing Genk of Belgium defender-turned-midfielder is also rated as Leicester’s best ball passer, with 905 from 17 English Premier League appearances, he has committed 24 fouls, which is more than any other player.
Incidentally, Ndidi’s fellow-Nigerian at King Power Stadium, Kelechi Iheanacho is also named among players who have given away a large number of free kicks, as he joins Wes Morgan, Ben Chilwell, Ricardo Pereira and Nampalys Mendy in the top six of most fouls committed.
In terms of passes executed, Iheanacho 14th, with a total of 222, behind Mendy (726), Chilwell (692), Harry Maguire (677) and James Maddison (605).
