Katsina United will hope to pick all the three point today when they clash against 2017 league champions Plateau United in the last Group A game of the on-going Aiteo Cup at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe
‘The Chanji Boys’, who defeated J. Atete 4 – 2 yesterday to secure their first three points in the competition after they lost narrowly to CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Enyimba in their opening game, will face another fierce test this afternoon when they trade tackles with Plateau United in a must-win encounter if they want to progress to the next stage of the oldest competition in the land.
Plateau United ran away with a vital point yesterday after they played out a one-all draw with Enyimba, leaving them in a good position where they will have to fight for another draw against Katsina United to progress to the next round.
It will be a huge mountain for Katsina United to climb as they will have to be at their very best if they want to beat the former NPFL Champions in Gombe on Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2018 NFF/Aiteo Cup.
Katsina United goalkeeper Dami Paul, who spoke with www.fckatsinaunited.com, said he believes his side would do the needful this afternoon to ensure they sail to the quarterfinals of the Aiteo Cup
“Yes, we know it’s a tough task, but to me and my team mates, it’s not as tough as people think because we have played them this season in the league and we won, who say we cannot do it again.
“We know we are the underdogs, but it’s a game of 11 players on each side and 90 minutes will determine who carries the day.
“We are ready and fully prepared for the game and we will do the needful to ensure that we get the necessary result that will take us to the next stage of the competition.”
Team News
There is no injury worry in the camp of Katsina United as all the players are fit and available for selection.
