NFF Confirm Super Eagles’ Training Starts May 22 In Uyo

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have disclosed that the Super Eagles will hold their first training session in Uyo on Tuesday, May 22, the same date the home-based squad are set to face Atlético de Madrid of Spain in an exhibition friendly game organized by La Liga and League Management Company (LMC).

However, LMC chairman, Shehu Dikko said English Premier League stars, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho will not play against Atlético.

Dikko said Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) players will be called up for the friendly against Los Rojiblancos in Uyo.

He said: ”The 30 players invited for the World Cup won’t play the game. It is the second team that will play, the Super Eagles B.

”The CHAN Eagles and other professionals who are not involved in the World Cup will face Atlético Madrid.”

The Eagles players will start training for the World Cup in Uyo on May 22, same date the local-based players will face the Europa League finalists at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Atletico Madrid defeated the NPFL All Stars 2-1 in the Trofeo de Carranza tournament in Cadiz in August 2016.

The invited players are expected to arrive at the Le Meridien Ibom Golf Resort, Uyo on May 21.

The team will depart Uyo for Port Harcourt on 26th May 2018 for the match against Democratic Republic of Congo on May 28 and then depart to London on 30th May for the match against England on June 2.

The trip to Austria from London is scheduled for June 3, to commence the final phase of the training camp and also the match against Czech Republic on June 6.

The Super Eagles will then depart Austria for Russia on June 11.
