NFF Unveils Shocking 30-Man Squad for Must-Win CHAN Clash

Date:

Super Falcons interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has called up 30 players to camp ahead of their upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Ghana.

The squad will gather at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on December 4, 2024, in preparation for the crucial first leg against Ghana’s Black Stars B, scheduled for December 22, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The CHAN tournament, which will be hosted in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in February 2025, is exclusively for players based in their domestic leagues.

Eguavoen’s selection includes seasoned professionals and rising talents from across Nigeria’s top-flight clubs.

Among the notable inclusions is Rabiu Ali, the influential midfielder of Kano Pillars, who has been in fine form this season with eight goals to his name.

Other key players invited to the camp include Kayode Bankole (Remo Stars), Steven Mayo (Rivers United), and Sunday Megwo (Abia Warriors).

The squad also features experienced goalkeepers Henry Ozoemena (Enyimba FC) and Bankole, along with defenders like Ismail Sadiq (Remo Stars) and Victor Collins (Nasarawa United), who earned his first senior team cap in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The return leg of the qualifiers will take place on December 28, 2024, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with both teams looking to secure a spot in next year’s CHAN tournament.
