Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel midfielder, John Ugochukwu Ogu has come out with a strong verdict that the Super Eagles can emerge champions of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Ogu, fondly called ‘Suker’ by close pals, however, noted that the Nigerian national team first have to qualify for the competition before they can talk about going on to win it for the fourth time in history.
The former Academica de Copimbra of Portugal towering left-footed battler is, however, cock sure that the Eagles have enough quality and talent to emerge tops at Cameroon 2019, once they get their art together and other factors work in their favour.
He added during an interactive session on social media that he is thinking big of adding his own efforts and ability to the Eagles’ surge to Cameroon, but noted that the decision on who plays which match depends on the coach, Gernot Rohr and his assistants.
Nonetheless, Ogu says he would be ready any time he is called upon to contribute his own quota to what he tagged a possible conquest of the continental soccer showpiece next year.
Ogu stressed: “We have the talents to (win AFCON 2019), but we have to first qualify before thinking that. Everybody wants to play but I have to be ready anytime I get the chance.”
