Nigeria Drawn in CHAN 2025 Group of Death; Find Out Opponents

Date:

Nigeria will compete in Group D of the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) scheduled to take place from August 2 to 30, 2025, following confirmation of the final tournament line-up which now includes Algeria and South Africa.

The CHAN 2025 tournament—exclusively for players based in domestic leagues—will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Originally slated for February, the competition was postponed to August due to logistical and scheduling adjustments by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles have been drawn in a tough Group D alongside Senegal, Sudan, and Equatorial Guinea, who replaced Congo Brazzaville after the latter was disqualified in response to a protest filed by Equatorial Guinea.

The group reshuffle has now created a tightly contested pool, with Nigeria seeking to improve on their 2018 campaign where they finished as silver medallists after losing to Morocco in the final.
