NIGERIA PLAYERS GO UNDER THE RADAR AS UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE KICKS OFF

Players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria had a not so glorious night as the UEFA Champions League matches got off to a bright start in the 2018/19 season.

In the games played across Europe on match day one, only three Super Eagles players and one yet to be invited featured. Bryan Idowu started for Locomotive Moscow as they fell to Henry Onyekuru’s Galatasaray.

Onyekuru, who has been in a good goal scoring form did not start the game as he came on the the 80 minute for Gala. Meanwhile, Bryan Idowu saw action for 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card in the 62nd minutes.

The game ended 3-0 in favour of the Turkish side who were at home.

Dennis Emmanuel came on in the 76th minute for Club Brugge, while Chidozie Awaziem was an unused substitute for FC Porto

Elsewhere, on The Star match of the night, Liverpool won 3-2 against French giants PSG, while Atletico Madrid put their poor start to to the La Liga aside to win 2-1 against Monaco. Lionel Messi got the season started with a hat trick on the night against PSV
