Nigerian-born youngster Gets Germany, England Invitations

Date:

Manchester City’s Nigerian-born youngster, Felix Nmecha has again been invited to the youth teams of England and Germany, as both countries continue battling to tie him down to an international future in their colours.

While Nmecha continues rising in stock at Etihad Stadium, along with his brother, Lukas (on loan at Preston North End), he is yet to decide which option to take between England and Germany, but has thrice honoured invitations from the latter.

It is now left to be seen which of the two he will choose this time, as England’s Football Association on Friday announced him in their U19 roster for October fixtures, but Germany followed suit soon after.

Germany U19 manager, Guido Streichsbier is expected to run the rule over Nmecha and 23 other players at their get-together in Cyprus from October 7 to 16.

Incidentally, Nmecha has previously made three appearances for Germany’s under-18 team, as he starred twice against France and once versus Russia.

Born in Hamburg but raised in England, he has also played for The Young Lions at U16 and U18 levels, but all the matches were unofficial.

Nmecha has made five appearances for Man City’s youth teams so far this season, scoring two goals and recently captained The Citizens’ U19s against TSG Hoffenheim of Germany in the UEFA Youth League.
