Cyriel Dessers scored as Rangers got their first league win of the season against Motherwell. Rangers were held to a goalless draw on the opening day of the league season against Hearts.
Dessers who scored in the UEFA champions league qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv during the week, was involved once against in a narrow 2-1 win for Rangers against Motherwell. The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 13th minute converting Mohammed Diamonde’s delivery for Rangers too take the lead.
Robin Propper turned the ball into his own net to equal proceedings in the 17th minute, the dutchman scoring an own goal to set Rangers back. Vaclav Cerny scored again for Rangers in the 24th minute as the team took the lead once again, with James Tavernier creating the goal.
The remainder saw a flurry of chances missed by both sides in a bid to change the status quo, however the scoreline would remain untampered until the final whistle. Leon Balogun also came off the bench in the 73rd minute as Rangers looked to defend their lead in the latter stages of the game.
The win ended a streak for Rangers, who had not tasted victory in 8 games prior, a run that dated back to the last game of last season.
