Nigerian Duo Lift English Championship Despite Loss

Date:

Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi won the English second tier league trophy with a game to spare against Preston. Leicester still had one game to play against Blackburn, and a win would’ve seen the foxes reach triple figures in points accumulated.

However, Leicester lost 2-0 on the final matchday to Blackburn Rovers, at the King Power Stadium. Leicester dominated proceedings during the game but lacked the final touch to convert any of their 14 goal attempts.

Blackburn Rovers can thank Sammie Szmodics for being their savior, as his brace saved the team from being drawn into relegation permutations.

Wilfred Ndidi was involved for 90 minutes, and the midfielder put in a shift defensively accumulating 3 clearances and also intercepting play once during his performance.

Kelechi Iheanacho came on in the 78th minute with the score at 1-0, in a bid to restore parity. He had one shot off target and one on target within his 12 minutes of play, also helping defensively by making one successful tackle.
