Nigerian Players abroad: Ndidi, Iheanacho fail to lift Leicester, Success fires blank, Troost Ekong fail against Inter.

Date:

Nigerian international Isaac Success was a 77th minute substitute in Watford’s 3 – 2 nervy win over Cardiff City in the EPL on Saturday afternoon in his 17th appearance in 17 league games for the hornets.

The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner came on for Ken Sema to add bite to Watford’s attack but his introduction to the match saw the away side gaining momentum as they got back two goals through Junior Hoilett and Bobby Reid in the 80th and 82nd minute but were unable to complete their fairytale comeback.

Nigerian superstar Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi played all 90 minutes while his counterpart Kelechi Iheanacho was on for 17 minutes but were unable to stop Leicester City from losing 1 – 0 away to Crystal palace in the EPL.

Iheanacho came on for Demarai Gray in the 73rd minute of the encounter but was unable to help his team equalize a 39th minute goal from Palace captain Luka Milivojevic. Iheanacho has been capped 16 times this season by the foxes while Ndidi has been capped in all matches for Leicester this season scoring once.

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo was not listed in Stoke City’s 2 – 2 draw away from home against Aston Villa in the English championships.

Etebo’s Stoke City came back from a two-goal deficit to draw the match as they continue to fight for a return to the money spinning premier league.

In Germany, Super Eagles left back Jamilu Collins was involved for 90 minutes as Paderborn humbled SG Dynamo Dresden 3 -0 in the German Bundesliga 2 on Saturday.

The Kaduna born star was booked in the encounter in the 73rd minute.

In the Italian Serie A Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong played all 90 minutes for Udinese as they lost to giants and high flyers Inter Milan on Saturday.

The Nigerian star was in the center of the three man defense set up by Davide Nicola but was unable to help his team when Inter’s captain Mauro Icardi coolly scored a panenka penalty to hand the home side the maximum points.
