Former Super Eagles defender, Joseph Yobo spoke on the evolving landscape of football and the consistent strength of Nigerian talent over generations.
He acknowledged that while Nigerian players have always excelled, they sometimes go unnoticed due to fierce global competition.
“Nigerian players always do well but sometimes there are other players doing so well then you miss out on it.”
Joseph Yobo spotlighted Victor Osimhen’s winning the African Footballer of the Year last year and Ademola Lookman’s impressive performances which have earned him a nomination for this year’s award as examples of Nigerian players making their mark.
He emphasized how these athletes are taking responsibility and seizing their moment on both African and global stages.
“This is their own time and I’m happy they are seizing that opportunity as well because sometimes it comes and they don’t grab it.”
“So I’m happy to see our players rising to the occasion and taking up the responsibility becoming both africa and global superstars”
