Royal Antwerp marched on to another 3 points following a dominant display at home against St Truidense to keep up their march with their top of table counterparts. Mark Van Bommel’s side cruised to a 3-0 win against their 9th placed opposition.
The first half was a barren affair with Antwerp showing more intent, but could not make any of their 4 shots on target stick on the scoreboard.
The second half was where Antwerp turned up the heat, and it took another 17 minutes for the home side to break the deadlock. Halftime substitute, Jacob Ondrejka converted from the penalty spot, one of their 6 shots on target in the second half.
Nigerian attacker, Chidera Ejuke stepped up and scored his third league goal of the season in the 74th minute. The 26 year old was at the end of a Mandela Keita creation and he made the opposition pay.
The game went away in the 83rd minute as Ejuke created one for Ondrejka to make it 3-0 and clean up the points for the home side.
Alhassan Yusuf put in a stellar 89 minute shift which included multiple duels won, a good passing clinic and a blocked shot, all to ensure it was an all round clean up of St Truidense.
Antwerp now sit 4th on the log with 48 points from 28 games, as they prepare for a trip to bottom placed Kortrijk.
