Njoku Optimistic Ahead of Round of 16 Clash

Date:

Abia Warriors captain, Augustine Njoku has said that his side will be victorious in their upcoming game. Abia Warriors are set to take on Kwara United in the round of 16 of the federation cup in Ikenne.

The skipper acknowledged that the team had been playing lower division teams, but now it is time to play against a team in the premier league. He also mentioned that it will be a big game and that the team are in a good form going into the game.

“It’s a good one. Since the FA Cup started, we have been playing the lower division teams and now it’s the time to play against a Premier League team like us. So, it’s going to be a very big game for us. But I believe with the kind of form the team is now, I believe we’re going to come out victorious and proceed to the round of eight in the President’s Federation Cup.”, said Njoku.

The captain also spoke about former members of the team who now play for Kwara United. He said that it’s normal in football for people to move and to face old foes in a game, but it will be a form of reunion as they had seen each other since their transfers.

“I can say that is part of football. In football, your teammate today can equally be your opponent tomorrow. That’s how football is. It’s going to be a kind of a reunion between us and them because they left in the mid-season of this current season to join Kwara United. And since then, we have not seen ourselves again and it’s equally a good one for us”, Njoku said.

He also identified the possibility of these old teammates giving out ideas on how they could be stopped, but is confident that the team has improved and can take their opposition.

“I know they will give information about our team but I believe our team have improved much more than the way they left so it’s going to be like a reunion with us and them and I believe it’s going to be great to see them again”, Njoke said in conclusion.
