The Nigeria National League (NNL) has issued a stern warning to clubs against registering new players for the upcoming Super Eight playoff tournament.
This directive was communicated by NNL Chief Operating Officer Dr. Ayo Abdulrahman during the draw for the competition on Wednesday.
Abdulrahman explained the importance of adhering to the established player rosters, urging clubs to submit their team lists by May 22, 2024.
He stated that the team lists should only include players who were already registered for the 2024 season.
“It’s not a norm that when the Super Eight is approaching we must register new players. No, please, erase it from your mind,” Abdulrahman asserted during his speech at the draw ceremony.
He further clarified, “The 2023-24 NNL season’s first round, which we have just completed with the regular season, provided two transfer windows at the beginning and mid-season. Any request for registration before the competition starts will be rejected, as well as during the competition because it is unethical.”
The NNL Super Eight playoff tournament is scheduled to take place from June 7th to 14th, 2024, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
