Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen, has stated that he’s not in competition with Mauro Icardi but is focused on learning from the experienced Argentine forward.
Osimhen joined the Turkish Super Lig champions on loan from Napoli during the summer transfer window and made his debut in Galatasaray’s 5-0 victory over Caykur Rizespor on Saturday, where he registered an assist.
The forward will face stiff competition for a starting spot, going up against the likes of Icardi, Michy Batshuayi, and Burak Yilmaz. However, Osimhen has embraced the challenge and expressed admiration for his teammates.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Osimhen said, ” I knew that Galatasaray was a very good team before I came. I will try to contribute as well.
There is no competition between us and the center forwards.
Reflecting on his debut, Osimhen shared his excitement about being part of the team and connecting with Galatasaray’s passionate fans.
Icardi is a legend of this game. Batshuayi is also a very important and deadly forward.
I definitely have things to learn from both of them. I think we will cooperate with them.”
